Cannon Jr. memorial Hospital in Linville and Watauga Medical Center in Boone. The Outpatient Behavioral Health Program is designed to meet the needs of adults, children and families experiencing a variety of problematic behaviors, thoughts and life patterns. The program works to improve emotional stability and increase general functioning, as well as help clients identify, develop and increase the use of effective coping skills by emphasizing the existing strengths of the individual or family system. As a Comprehensive Care Center, they offer regular clinical services including outpatient screening, assessment, treatment and psychiatric services for all ages along with School-Based Therapy serving children/adolescents in all nine public schools. There is also an array of enhanced services such as: Intensive In-Home for children and adolescents and Day Treatment for grades K-5, Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) for adults, Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Treatment (SAIOP), and Mobile Crisis Management services for the whole county. A Walk-In clinic allows individuals to begin services without an appointment during normal weekdays, though initial appointments can be scheduled by phone or face-to-face if preferred. All are designed to minimize trauma to children and their non-offending family members resulting from child physical or sexual abuse, to advocate for and support child victims and their non-offending family members and to enhance the legal process in achieving optimal criminal prosecutions. They also offer mental health counseling and cognitive behavioral therapy. Crossnore's staff therapists are licensed or associate-level clinicians (LCSW, LMFT, or LPC) and utilize a trauma-informed approach. Models used by clinicians vary based on the needs of the child and family and are determined by a complete assessment to determine needs. Therapies and services may include Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), equine therapy, individual and family counseling, group therapy, and play therapy.
