Box 157 Creston, NC 28615 Email: asheoutreach@gmail.com Description of Services: Our efforts to feed families and eliminate food insecurity in Ashe County started in 2005 and initially focused on Middle grades children. Since then, we have developed several specialized and focused programs. Over 25,000 lbs. of food is administered every month through 5 programs including: Mobile Meals, Riverview food pantry, weekly community meals: Every Saturday, from 11-12:30, we hold our Uptown Community Meal at the the Early Learning Center (the old West Jefferson Community Center cafeteria). We serve another meal, every Thursday, starting at 10 a.m. at the Riverview Community Center in Creston. , and a School Backpack program: backpacks go home with students on Friday and during the summer to ensure that they have food while they are away from school, and Outgrow Hunger: Which educates about the ability to provide food by growing a garden at residences, while also providing classes for gardening skills, cooking, and preserving.
