Description of Services: At the Hunger and Health Coalition, it is our intention to alleviate the arduous decision with which our clients are faced each month: food or life-saving medications.
Our mission statement is as follows: The mission of the Hunger & Health Coalition is to be a resource for individuals and families within our community that are struggling to provide themselves with basic needs such as food, prescribed medications and heat during winter. Love, generosity, and compassion guide our donors, volunteers and staff daily as they all help accomplish this mission.

Move with Compassion Ministry

Description of Services: MWCM is a non-profit organization that distributes food to the hungry on the third Saturday of each month. We are able to feed 210 families in Avery, Carter and the surrounding counties. We also have a Thrift Store that is open to the public. We get new donations coming in weekly. All proceeds go towards buying the food. All donations, material or monetary, are greatly appreciated.

Volunteer Avery County

Description of Services:  Volunteer Avery County finds resources to aid families and individuals that do not qualify for public assistance and fall through the cracks. Priority given to those with limited incomes, elderly individuals and families with children in the home.
· Self–referral accepted, agency referrals encouraged.
