Description of Services: At the Hunger and Health Coalition, it is our intention to alleviate the arduous decision with which our clients are faced each month: food or life-saving medications.
Our mission statement is as follows: The mission of the Hunger & Health Coalition is to be a resource for individuals and families within our community that are struggling to provide themselves with basic needs such as food, prescribed medications and heat during winter. Love, generosity, and compassion guide our donors, volunteers and staff daily as they all help accomplish this mission. 

The Hunger and Health Coalition provides the following services to our clients:  Food Pantry, Food Recovery, The Market, Healthy Start, Snacks for Scholars, Backpack Program 141 Pharmacy, Prescription Assistance, Pass It On, Helping Hands,  Wood Lot, Community Thanksgiving Dinner, Sharing Tree, & Senior Sharing Tree.

​Description of Services:  Legal Aid of North Carolina is a statewide, nonprofit law firm that provides free legal services in civil matters to low-income people in order to ensure equal access to justice and to remove legal barriers to economic opportunity. Legal assistance in Civil Claims-civil domestic violence, restraining orders. obtaining emergency relief such as alimony, child custody, and possession of the marital home.  Legal aid assists people with housing issues such as foreclosures, tenant-landlord problems, consumer issues such as debt collection, and bankruptcy; benefits such as Medicaid or Food Stamp problems; employment, such as unemployment compensation and employee/employer problems.

In many communities around North and South Carolina, The Salvation Army can provide financial or material assistance.  Since each community is unique, the details of these assistance programs vary between our different commands.  Please contact your local Salvation Army for complete details.  However, assistance may often take the form of:
  • help with utility bills/deposits,
  • help with rent/mortgage payments
  • help with prescription medications
  • providing food for families
  • providing clothing
