Carolina Cross Connections has volunteers
that will paint, fix porches and roofs, cut
weeds, build ramps, and other chores. 
There is no charge, however you may be
asked to provide the materials, if possible,

stop you from calling.  They are present in
Alleghany County during the summer only.

Description of Services: 
ABLE is a non-profit organization that coordinates activities/events for families who have children with special needs, including mental and physical disabilities.  The main focus is adaptive baseball in the Spring; however, other monthly activities are offered throughout the year including adaptive bowling and various holiday parties.

Description of Services: 

Division of Medical Assistance    (DMA) -- The Division of Medical Assistance (DMA) provides training, technical assistance, and consultation to the local DSS staff who work in the Medicaid and Health Choice programs. 
The Division of Child Development and Early Education   (DCDEE) -- The Division of Child Development and Early Education provides training, technical assistance, and consultation for staff who work with subsidized child care programs.
The Division of Social Services   (DSS) -- The Division of Social Services (DSS) provides training, technical assistance, and consultation to the local staff who work in programs for families and children including Child Welfare, Family Support, Work First, Child Support, and Food and Nutrition Services. 
Division of Health Service Regulation   (DHSR) -- The Division of Health Service Regulation provides training, technical assistance, and consultation for staff who are involved in the supervision and monitoring of group care facilities. Field staff are available to local counties. 
Division of Aging and Adult Services   (DAAS) -- The Division of Aging and Adult Services provides training, technical assistance, and consultation to local staff who work in programs for adults including Adult Protective Services, Special Assistance, Adult Day Care and In Home services.

Description of Services:

The High Country Caregiver Foundation provides different services to caregivers throughout the High Country. Programs include Reach Out, an evidence-based caregiver support system designed to promote health and well-being of adults caring for persons with dementia; RAPP sessions provide a warm atmosphere for any relative or caregiver who has taken on the responsibility of raising a minor child. Other services include group respite, support groups and education/information of resources.

Our goal is to provide quality training, competition and community involvement opportunities for our athletes.  The caring support of our community is marvelous and constantly fosters success for the 360 athletes who are able to take advantage of the training and competition opportunities offered through Special Olympics Wilkes County. Wilkes County also has more than 70 Young Athletes (2 – 7 years old) who take part in the local Spring Games each year.

The Family Preservation Program is a 28 days/40 hrs during the 28 day time period.

Description of Services:
Work with families on parenting, communication,  resources, transportation, advocating, cleaning, domestic violence,  substance abuse  and any other need the family has.  We have a stipend of $500 dollars to spend on the family if they successfully participate.  We have 5 Triple-P trained  specialists to help with the family's needs.
