Description of Services: 
ABLE is a non-profit organization that coordinates activities/events for families who have children with special needs, including mental and physical disabilities.  The main focus is adaptive baseball in the Spring; however, other monthly activities are offered throughout the year including adaptive bowling and various holiday parties.

4-H offers programs to North Carolina’s young people in their communities; 4-H programs include clubs, special interest programs, summer camps, school enrichment and after school child care.

Description of Services: The High Country Caregiver Foundation provides different services to caregivers throughout the High Country. Programs include Reach Out, an evidence-based caregiver support system designed to promote health and well-being of adults caring for persons with dementia; RAPP sessions provide a warm atmosphere for any relative or caregiver who has taken on the responsibility of raising a minor child. Other services include group respite, support groups and education/information of resources.

Description of Services: 
Children’s Developmental Services Agency (CDSA) provides services for the development of infants and toddlers with special needs and their families. Services are for children birth up to 3 years old that have a developmental delay or established condition (a diagnosed physical or mental condition). The ITP provides a range of services to help families meet the developmental needs of their infant or toddler. Some of these include: evaluations, service coordination, physical, occupational and speech-language therapies, assistive technology, family support, and nutrition services.

No family is denied services because of inability to pay. Evaluation and service coordination are at no cost for the family. Medicaid and the family’s insurance are billed with permission.

WYN is a relationship-focused resource for youth and families in the High County. Through prevention and intervention programs, WYN specializes in providing youth with tools they need to reach their potential and discover their place in our community and in our world.

With the help of our caring adult  volunteers, WYN matches youth ages 6-17 with a role model and advocate to help them through all stages of growing up. Mentors serve a unique role in the life of a child that is different from that of a parent, teacher, or friend. While spending time with their mentor, youth show improvements in their academic performance, school attendance, and behaviors. Most of all, they know someone cares about them

Circle of Parents is a friendly, supportive environment led by caregivers for anyone in a parenting role.  It is an opportunity to share successes/challenges of raising children and to find/share resources/support.  Supervision and fun activities are provided for children/youth where they can learn social skills and safe ways to express feelings.  Open to all families/Caregivers who have a child with special needs. Meal & Childcare provided with advanced
