Families must complete an application and have an annual income of less than $65,000 a year after taxes and they only offer assistance one time per year. The purpose of the WIC program is to prevent and improve nutrition-related health problems in its target population. Ages Served: Birth to age 5 and pregnant women Fees/ Payment Type Accepted: This is a free service to those who qualify. Eligibility: WIC is designed to serve certain categories of women, infants, and children. Women:
Children: Up to the child's 5th birthday Applicants must also live in the state that they apply and must have income at or below an income level or standard set by the State agency or be determined automatically income-eligible based on participation in certain programs. Applicants must also be seen by a health professional such as a physician, nurse, or nutritionist who must determine whether the individual is at nutrition risk.
