Description of Services: Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care has a pediatric palliative care, hospice, and bereavement program called Kids Path. We have staff specially trained in caring for pediatric patients, who have a life-limiting illness or terminal illness. We also have a dedicated bereavement coordinator, that works with children, who are bereaved.

Ages Served: Available to patients of any age, religion, race or illness.

Payment/Fees: Medicare, Medicaid,  Most insurance companies, such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, MedCost, etc.,   Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care will never turn away a patient due to their lack of insurance or ability to pay.

Service Area: We serve children in Surry, Alleghany, Wilkes, Iredell, Forsyth Stokes, and Davie Counties in North Carolina and Grayson, Carroll, Wythe, Pulaski, and Patrick Counties in Virginia.

Description of Services: Wilkes Pregnancy Care Center is a nonprofit, non-denominational, non-political organization committed to providing care, compassion, information and support to anyone facing an unintended pregnancy. We have been serving Wilkes and surrounding counties since 1996 and are supported by our local community.  We rely 100% on donations with funding received from local churches, businesses, individuals, clubs, and occasional grants.  All services are Free and Confidential.

Description of Services: The expanded mission of the Wilkes Public Dental Clinic is to serve the unserved and underserved children and adults of Wilkes (and the surrounding region on a space available basis) in need of dental care.  We will accept Medicaid, Health Choice, Vocational Rehab, BROC Head Start, private insurance, and self-pay patients.  A sliding fee scale will be applied for self-pay patients.

Description of Services: Care Connection Pharmacy provides two basic prescription assistance drug programs to low-income residents of Wilkes:

  • The Generic Drug Program dispenses low cost generic drugs to patients being treated for chronic conditions, who do not have third party sources for payment, and whose income is at least 200% below the federally established poverty level.
  • Generic drugs are dispensed for a modest co-payment based on the patients income and is determined by BROC or DSS. The Medication Assistance Program, MAP, assists physicians in acquiring high price, name-brand drugs from pharmaceutical companies that offer these drugs to those whose low income falls within the drug company's guidelines.
