The program combines traditional, evidence-based therapies with a unique wilderness experience, Blue Ridge Therapeutic Wilderness provides youth and their families a powerful setting for hope, change, and healing. Blue Ridge offers therapeutic wilderness programs in age-appropriate groups for both pre-teen and teen boys and girls. GRANDFATHER HOME FOR CHILDREN - LEVEL II GROUP

Services are provided in two cottages on a campus setting with education provided by on campus charter school. Youth Villages completes the Comprehensive Clinical Assessment or GAIN Light Assessment with the youth and family. This process takes around two hours and includes assessment of behavioral health needs, trauma history, strengths and interests. Youth could also complete a drug screen. Youth with a substance use or mental health diagnosis are referred for treatment services for further assessment.

The SC identifies student needs using a Needs Assessment Tool provided by the national office of Communities In Schools (CIS). JCPC funding will be used to fund the integrated student services that include twice-weekly tutoring for those at-risk of failing or dropping out of school. Students who exhibit the need will also receive the evidence-based program Check & Connect.

Therapy is intensive and is conducted in the child's home by a single counselor. The counselor typically works with the child and family over a three-to five-month period. As part of the process, the counselor typically works closely with teachers, neighbors, extended family, even members of the child's peer group and their parents. A counselor on the MST team is available to the family 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
