RHA offers services and supports to people with Developmental and Intellectual disabilities throughout most of North Carolina. programs provide organized developmental activities for adults with developmental disabilities.   Our Adult Developmental Vocational Programs programs give individuals the tools they need to live as independently as possible. Opportunities provided by RHA ADVP programs include daily living/personal care skills, work training & vocational support, community living skills, and leisure activities. Community Alternatives Program for Disabled Adults (CAP/DA)

Description of Services:
This program makes care at home a real possibility for many people who face nursing placement. CAP/DA exists to supplement rather than replace the formal and informal services and support already available to an individual. The program’s goal is to enable individuals to remain their homes or to return to their homes from nursing facilities and live as independently as possible.

Ages Served:  Age 18 and older

Eligibility: 
  • Person must be 18 years of age and older
  • Eligible for Medicaid
  • Live in a private residence and is at risk of being placed in a nursing facility, or lives in a nursing facility and desires to return to a private residence
  • Requires nursing facility care (IC or SN) as determined through the Medicaid prior approval process
  • Needs CAP/DA services to remain safely at home
  •  Can have his or her health, safety, and well-being maintained at home within the Medicaid cost limit
  • Desires CAP/DA services instead of institutional care

The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services provides counseling, training, education, transportation, job placement, assistive technology and other support services. These services are provided to people with physical, psychiatric or intellectual disabilities and to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing or have other communicative disorders to assist them with living independently and with finding and staying on the job.

Description of Services:
 Driver Rehabilitation Services is for any person who would benefit from the services. A registered Occupational Therapist with a State certification as a driver instructor and specialist training in driver rehabilitation conducts a clinical evaluation at the client’s home to determine strengths and limitations. Training occurs on an individual basis, dealing with specific needs and covering every aspect of safe driving.
